The commanding officer of the Naval Unit of the National Cadet Corps in Assam met with the Governor of Assam. The officer gave an overview of the various activities undertaken by the naval wing of NCC in the state. He also mentioned that a Sailing Expedition will be organised on the Brahmaputra River.
The National Cadet Corps, popularly called the NCC, is responsible for training youth across the country. The NCC inculcates the values of nation-building, sincerity, and team spirit among the members. There are three wings of the National Cadet Corps namely the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Lieutenant Commander Debanand Doley holds the position of Officer Commanding 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC. He met with Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Assam. The Officer Commanding also briefed the Governor regarding eh 10-day Sailing Expedition. This expedition will be undertaken in the first week of November on the mighty Brahmaputra River. The exact details of the route have however not been made public yet by the authorities.
The commanding officer also informed the Governor about the various initiatives taken. These included numerous drills, training sessions, training camps and community service projects. It is important to note that Gulab Chand Kataria was an NCC cadet himself. He expressed great interest in the activities of the Naval Wing of NCC in the state. He also commended the work done by the organisation towards shaping young minds. And training the youth of the country towards building a more developed and prosperous India.
