The 10th anniversary edition of the annual photography competition and exhibition of the Photography Club of Assam, was inaugurated today afternoon. It was held in the Artists’ Guild in Chandmari in the presence of several dignitaries, members of the Photography Club of Assam and enthusiasts.
Dr. Dhruba Jyoti Borah, Vice Chancellor of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences was the chief guest of the occasion. Other dignitaries on the event were Hriday Ranjan Das, Joint Director of Tourism and Kishor Kumar Das, General Secretary of Guwahati Artists’ Guild.
Speaking to Discover East, Bidyasagar Baruah, the Chairman of PCA mentioned that this edition had more than 3000 entries. These came from more than 250 participants from across India and even abroad. And there are more than 45 awards and certificates, with a total prize money of more than Rs 80,000.
The 10th anniversary edition of Pohor has both online and offline exhibitions. And both of them were flagged off in today’s event. The offline exhibition is a four day affair showing around hundred of the best entries in the Artists’ Guild. While the online exhibition is accessible on this link and showcases nearly a thousand of the shortlisted entries.
The first seven editions of Pohor were hosted as physical exhibitions in different venues. The 8th and 9th editions were organised online owing to the Covid -19 pandemic. And this is the first time Pohor has both online and offline formats. Several workshops will also be organised as a part of this event.
