Natasurya Drama Festival is one of the most important cultural events of the state dedicated to theater art. This year’s event will be hosted in a five day format this year starting on 12th December.
The event will be organised by the Natasurya Memorial Celebration Committee in association with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Assam. It will be hosted in the premises of the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati from 12th to 16th December.
The event will be flagged off at 6.15 PM on Monday with a cultural presentation. Renowned lyricist Kirti Kamal Bhuyan and the director of Cultural Affairs, Minakshi Das Nath will be present as guests for the opening.
The first play to be staged in Natasurya Drama Festival is Sarkari Inspector directed by veteran director Dulal Roy. On 13th December Orchid Theatre will present The Old Man directed by Sahidul Haque. 14th December will see the National School of Drama, New Delhi will stage the drama Abhigyansakuntalam directed by Professor Bidushi Reeta Ganguly.
On 15th December the NF Railway Cultural Association will present the famous drama of Rupknowar Jyotiprasad Agarwala, Lovita. This drama will be directed by Chandrajit Saikia. On the last day of the festival Abhinaya and Natasurya will present the play Saran Das Chor. This drama will be directed by Sanjib Kr. Buragohain.
