Guwahati: The 8th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) kicked off at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati on Thursday, 14th December. The inaugural ceremony witnessed a good gathering of esteemed film personalities, cinema lovers, and fans.
Founder and Festival Director, Tanushree Hazarika invited everyone to the festival. She mentioned that the festival will be spanning over the next three days. She mentioned that a captivating list of feature films, documentaries and short films will be showcased during this event. The festival will continue from 14 December to 17 December. Several well-known names in the film industry attended the inaugural session of the event. These included Leena Yadav, Ronnie Lahiri, Amrit Pritam, Bodhisatva Sharma, Aimee Baruah, and Ritisha Khaund, among others.
The World Premier of Kooki by director Pranab Deka followed the inaugural ceremony. Kooki is a Hindi-language feature film. It is about a young 16-year-old girl who had to sail through an unforeseen tragedy. The cast includes Ritisha Khaund, Rajesh Tailang, Dipannita Sharma, Atwal, Ritu Shivpuri, Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Bodhisattva Sharma, Kamal Lochan, Bibhuti Bhusan Hazarika, Preety Kkongana and Ranjeev Lal Barua.
Over the next three days, the organisers will screen a total of 13 feature films, 3 documentaries and 12 short films during the event. It will also host a number of interaction sessions for film lovers and enthusiasts from all across the region.
The second day features the World Premier of Kenny Basumatary’s Assamese feature film Jiya. As well as the World Premiere of Nyishi feature film Sangi-gai by director Nyago Ete. Also, director Arvind Pratap’s ‘Mariam’ and Marathi feature film ‘Vaat’ by director Miransha Naik will be the highlights from the feature film section. The festival will also host dialogue sessions with film producer Ronnie Lahiri on Day 2.
Entrance to the festival is free, welcoming film enthusiasts to participate in this cinematic celebration.
