The ritual of Durga Puja idol immersion often leads to massive traffic woes in the capital city. This year the event will take place on October 24.
Rules for vehicles other than those carrying idols
The traffic restrictions at the Kachomari Ghat will come into effect from 12 PM onwards. Vehicles except those caring idols coming from the Chandmari side will not enter the MC Road. They divert via RP Road, GNB Road, TC Point and RBI Point to Panbazar Overbridge North Point. These vehicles will then take the left turn and proceed on AT Road towards Jalukbari.
No vehicles except idol-carrying ones will be allowed to take the right turn at the District Library point from GNB Road to KLB Road. Vehicles coming from Jalukbari, Bharalumukh side towards Chandmari, Dispur side shall be regulated at Apollo Point on MG Road. And diverted via TRP Road, then to HB Road or AT Road. These vehicles will proceed either to KLB Road via HB Road (towards Chandmari, Noonmati and Geetanagar) or towards AT Road (towards Dispur and Khanapara). All vehicles coming from Uzanbazar, Kharghuli and Noonmati will divert via Tayabullah Road and GNB Road. TRP Road and HB Road will remain one way from the Apollo Point side.
Rules for Durga Puja idol immersion vehicles in Kachomari Ghat
All idol-carrying vehicles coming from the Chandmari side will divert at TC Point via MC Road, FC Road and MG Road. Idol-carrying vehicles from Tokobari, Paltanbazar, Ulubari, Rehabari, Birubari, Chatribari, Bishnupur and Lalganesh areas shall move either, via the BK Kakoti Road, Ulubari, GS Road, Paltanbazar, Panbazar road over the bridge, MLN Road and MG Road, or via AK Azad Road, Nepali Mandir, Panbazar road over the bridge, ML Nehru Road and MG Road.
Vehicles from the Kumarpara, Athgaon and Fatasil areas will move via AT Road, TRP Road, Kedar Road and MG Road. And vehicles from Rajgarh, Bhangagarh and Christian Basti areas are to move via GS Road, Bhangagarh, Rajgarh Road, RG Barooah Road (Zoo Road), GNB Road, Guwahati Club, TC Point, MC Road, FC Road and MG Road. Also, vehicles from Ganeshguri, Dispur and Kahilipara areas are to move from Ganeshguri via RG Barooah Road (Zoo Road), GNB Road, Guwahati Club, TC Point, MC Road, FC Road and MG Road. No idol-carrying vehicle will move on B.Baruah road from Ulubari to TC point. The idol-carrying vehicles moving from the Bharalumukh and Fatasil areas are to move via AT road and DG road towards Pandu.
Rules for idol immersion vehicles at Pandu Port
No idol-carrying vehicles will enter from Maligaon Chariali towards Pandu. Idol-carrying vehicles will move via Adabari Tiniali towards Pandu Port immersion ghat. After immersion, the vehicles will move out via Sadilapur 6 no. colony towards Jalukbari.
