The International Day of Yoga is celebrated to spread awareness about this practice. It was celebrated in multiple parts of the world including multiple locations across the country.
Assam also celebrated the International Day of Yoga today. Public yoga performances were held at several places across the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took part in the event at the Chowkidinghee field in Dibrugarh. Celebrations also took place in the Kamakhya temple complex in Guwahati and Rang Ghar complex in Sivasagar. Smaller events to commemorate the occasion was many other schools, colleges and other public places.
Yoga is not just a physical exercise, it is more of a combination of physical and mental practices which enables the overall well being of man. These practices have been handed down generation after generation since the ancient times. And in the modern times, these practices have become much more relevant . Most of the people today lead very unhealthy lifestyles and suffer severe problems because of the same. Yogic practices teache people to live a very good lifestyle and remain healthy.
