Even before the declaration of the results of MasterChef India, the state of Assam had started with the celebrations. The reason was both the finalists in this mega culinary contest belonged to the state. While Nayanjyoti Saikia claimed the title, Santa Sharma became the runners-up of this edition.
Season 7 of MasterChef India saw the presentation of many experts in the field. Like all the previous editions, participants from all over the country came in to showcase their talents. And three contestants among the top 10 were from Assam. They were Nayanjyoti Saikia, Santa Sharma and Nazia Sultana. This was also the first time that Assam had seen any representation in the final rounds of this contest.
MasterChef India Season 7 winner Nayanjyoti Saikia belongs to Gobindapur in Tinsukia. He came into the competition as one of the underdogs and gradually made his way to the crown. His enthusiasm regarding cooking was the main motivation for the win.
Santa Sharna who was named the runners up of the competition belongs to the Jagiroad region of Assam. She had also bagged another local contest before participating in MasterChef India.
This was the first time that MasterChef India has seen contestants from Assam in the final rounds. And that too both the trophies came to the state at the end of the contest.
