The famous Cherry Blossom Festival of Meghalaya will be hosted at two locations in Shillong from the 25th of November to the 27th. The first venue of the event will be the banks of the scenic Ward’s Lake while the second will be the Polo Ground.
A wide variety of events will be hosted in both the locations on the occasion of the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2021. The first version of this event was held in the year 2016 to attract more tourists to the state of Meghalaya. The beautiful pink flowers these trees blossom during the winters. Along with the clear skies, matched with the festivities, this event attracts huge crowds.
This year the venue at Ward’s Lake will host the Shillong Cherry Blossom Literary Festival, one of the main events during the festival. It will also have various presentations and performances during the three day festival. Stalls for shopping local products as well as food and beverage will be available in this venue.
The 2nd Ground of the Polo Grounds will be the host venue of a multitude of competitions which include singing, fashion, cosplay, brewing, cooking and graffiti. Music and dance performances will also be held in this location . Fashion shows and performances by internationally famed artists are also on the cards for this venue. Stalls for food and beverages, alcoholic beverages as well as traditional products will be available here as well.
Tickets or passes for the events have not been issued as of now and will be updated soon on the Meghalaya Tourism website. Since both the venues are not very far apart, visitors can easily take part in the festivities taking place in either of the locations. Meghalaya is also organizing the Me.gong Festival on 18th of November in Garo Hills.
