Dhruba Jyoti Deka, the creator of popular e-commerce website Brahmaputra Fables was the only panelist in the Digital India Week from Northeast India.
He was a panelist in the session on Catalyzing Startup Ecosystems in Tier II and Tier III Cities of the country. And his co-panelists included Arvind Kumar (STPI) ,Parminder Singh (Wipro), Vipul Patel (Seed Investing), Harshil Mathur (Razorpay), Anil Sharma (TCS) and Souvik Sengupta (Infra.Market).
Deka’s creation has provided livelihood to makers of traditional products in the rural regions of Northeast India. Not only does his business provide livelihood to hundreds of rural artisans from the interiors of the region, but all makes the world aware of the beautiful creations of the region. In a support program by Facebook, hoardings and billboards about Brahmaputra Fables put up in prominent locations across the country.
Born in the small town of Sarthebari in the Barpeta district in Assam Dhruba Jyoti Deka completed his graduation from Cotton College and masters from Pondicherry University. After that he founded Brahmaputra Fables which later got incubated in Assam Startup.
Talking to Discover East, Dhruba Jyoti Deka thanked all the Government agencies for making this event possible. He also thanked all the team members of Brahmaputra Fables and artisans for making this possible. He expressed his happiness that a first generation entrepreneur from a small town on one of the biggest stages for digital innovations.
