The 3-day Expo ONE Organic North East was flagged off today in Khanapara of Guwahati. Atul Bora, the Minister of Agriculture for Assam flagged off this event in the presence of several dignitaries.
This event has been organised by the Agriculture Department of Assam and the Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd. The vision of this event is to raise national and global awareness of the region as a source of natural products. It intends to raise awareness of the potential of organic farming in the northeastern region. Apart from organic agriculture, innovations, potential use of digitization and new technologies will also be discussed.
Expo ONE has 120 stalls and 20 pavilions showcasing food products from across the country. Producers and brands from 19 states of the country are participating in this event. Along with the high level officials from the agriculture and horticulture departments. Multiple conferences, buyer-seller meets, talks and seminars will also be hosted as a part of this event.
Speaking at the occasion, the minister of Agriculture mentioned that his department is working towards the promotion of Majuli. The district is to be developed as a center for organic farming under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development.
