The first official event of G20 Meet is over in Guwahati and the next one is still a few days away. So the government of Assam had arranged for the guests to get a taste of the culture and traditions of the state.
The guests visited the Sualkuchi village on 4th February after the completion of the meeting on February 2nd and 3rd. Sualkuchi in Assam is known for the its sprawling silk industry. Thousands of artisans across the region work towards weaving beautiful designs on a variety of fabrics. The international guests interacted with the artisans about silk and their working with the same. They also had a first hand experience with the process of weaving Assamese silk dresses.
The participants of the G20 meet also visited the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary on the edge of the Guwahati city. They took the elephant safari in the park and had an experience of the beautiful flora and fauna. The tourists had a great time going through one horned rhinos and the migratory birds among other birds and animals.
A special event was hosted by the tourism department of Assam to showcase the culture and traditions of the state. The event was hosted on the banks of the Brahmaputra river in the evening of Saturday. The international visitors got to enjoy the traditional music and dance of Assam in this event.
They also took a trip into the famous Kaziranga National Park of Assam a day ahead of the meeting in Guwahati.
