Guwahati: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati organised an event to commemorate International Civil Aviation Day 2023 on Thursday, December 7. The management of the airport organised this event at the Green Valley Public School in Khanamukh of Dharapur. This event was aimed at sharing knowledge regarding the aviation sector with the students.
This is a United Nations event aimed at the celebration and recognition of the aviation sector. Countries across the world celebrate this event to give due respect to the aviation sector since 1994. As it is essential for the development of the world as a whole. Events include quizzes, online contests, workshops and other events aimed at dissemination of knowledge.
The Chief Airport Officer of Guwahati Airport – Utpal Baruah; Chairman of Green Valley Public School – Md. Makibur Rahman, Principal MD. Jakir Hussain, faculties and some officials of the airport attended the session along with the students of the school. This session was organised to commemorate the International Civil Aviation Day 2023.
Speaking on the Utpal Baruah said, “We have been celebrating the day in the past years. The aim of the celebration is to acknowledge the influence of the aviation sector in almost all aspects of modern life. Because of the aviation sector, today we have been empowered to travel to any corner of the planet within hours. And the aviation sector has made the world a very small place. Thus encouraging the growth and development in almost all other sectors.”
The official also handled the queries of the participants on a variety of topics. These included aviation, planes, jobs and airport management. He also shared his experiences and anecdotes with the participants based on his long years of experience in this field.
The event was commemorated by several organisations working in the aviation sector. Students, youth and the general public were made aware of the various opportunities in the sector.
