The Guwahati Half Marathon is an annual sports event held under the banners of Techniche, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. It will be held on the 24th of April and pass through the main areas of the city of Guwahati. And the theme for this year’s event is aimed to make Child Protection popular.
This year’s Guwahati Half Marathon will be flagged of from the Nehru Stadium in Ulubari. The event will be held in two categories namely the glory run and spirit run. The glory run group will run the full distance of 21 kilometres while the spirit run for a distance of 6 kilometres. Prizes worth Rs. 1,50,000 are up for grabs in this event. The run will be flagged off at 5:30 AM. The route will start from the stadium and go via the Mahapurush Srimanta Shankardev Path and return via the same way.
Techniche is organised completely by the students and the techo fest of the Indian Institute of Guwahati. It is the culmination of all various competitions and lecture series. The Guwahati Half Marathon has been a key event of Techniche. Physical events were not held for the last two years due to COVID-19.
Another festival, Alcheringa was held in the month of March.
