For the travel, music and adventure enthusiasts from Northeast or India as a whole, the legendary Hornbill Festival of Nagaland will be held again this year. With the COVID-19 numbers gradually decreasing in the state, the government has decided to give a go-ahead for this event.
Hornbill Festival is the celebration of the traditions of the different tribes of the state of Nagaland. traditional music and dance forms are showcased in this festival. The dates are fixed for this festival. It always states on the Statehood Day of the state of Nagaland, that is the 1st of December to the 10th of December every year.
This festival is also the main tourism event of the Northeastern state. Apart from showcasing traditions, a huge number of locals are employed during this festival season. It also has musical performances as well as contests, motor sports and food festivals. Camping is another attraction of this event, but the best experience is to stay at the traditional huts near the event village.
Last year’s Hornbill Festival was held online due to the COVID-19 situation. This year too the Ziro Music Festival of Arunachal Pradesh and the NH7 Weekender of Meghalaya does not have any chance of happening.
