Guwahati: The Hare Krishna Movement Guwahati has invited devotees for the Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2024 and Srila Prabhupada’s appearance day celebrations in Guwahati. The three-day celebration will take place from August 25 to 27 August at the Hare Krishna Mandir in North Guwahati. Janardhana Dasa, President of Hare Krishna Movement Guwahati, invited everyone to join in celebrating Janmashtami.
Janmashtami celebration schedule
The organisers announced the following schedule for the celebrations. The Laddu Gopal Abhishekam Celebration will be conducted on Sunday, August 25. The same will be underway from 11 AM to 2 PM at Centro Mall, Zoo Road. This event will include Laddu Gopal Abhishekam, traditional bhajans and kirtans, discourses on Lord Krishna’s leelas, prasad, and cultural programs.
Shri Krishna Janmashtami 2024 Celebration will be conducted on Monday, August 26. This event will be organised from 10 AM to 10 PM at the Hare Krishna Mandir, North Guwahati, Near IIT Guwahati. Cultural programs, Sri Sri Radha Shyamsundar Maha Abhishekam, Maha Pallaki & Maha Mangala Arati, and Prasad will be organised on this day.
Srila Prabhupada’s Appearance Day & Nandotsava is on Tuesday, August 27. This event will be organised from 10 AM to 10 PM at Hare Krishna Mandir, North Guwahati, Near IIT Guwahati. Special discourses, offering of flowers and prayers, book distribution, and prasad offerings will be conducted on this day.
The Janmashtami celebrations will also include other events. These include a Capture Krishna Contest where participants will create Krishna-conscious reels, short videos, and photographs within the Temple campus. Krishna Quest: a quiz-based initiative for all age groups on Krishna books will also be conducted. Both initiatives will have a panel of judges and a spiritual tour to Vrindavan as a prize for the winners.
The organisers mentioned that over 50,000 devotees are expected to visit the venue over three days. Sri Jagannath Mahaprasadam will be provided for all attendees of the celebration. Jhankis depicting Lord Krishna’s tales will also be set up. Also, a total of 300 volunteers will be taking part in managing the event. Scouts and guides, and students from various colleges will also contribute to the event.
