The Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) is well known for giving a stage to upcoming independent artists. To continue the trend and encourage new talent, the Indian Performing Right Society Limited (IPRS) has partnered with the festival.
IPRS is a copyright society representing over 9000 authors, composers, and publishers across the country. Representatives of the organisation were present at the ZIRO Festival of Music 2022 to meet songwriters, composers, and music makers. They also educated about the rights as a creator and how to make the most from their creations. They explained the role of copyright societies and benefits a creator has by being part of a community towards getting rightful dues and credit.
With growing connectivity, Indian music has moved way beyond the usual genres. Regional and non-film music are gaining more more popularity in the country and moved beyond geographical differences. That is why IPRS reached out to independent artists from the Northeastern states during the festival.
Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM) took a step towards supporting Creators’ rights by licensing the music they played. It is a new beginning in the region to uphold the importance of fair use of music and giving music creators their rights. Held in the end of September and start of October, this event saw participation and attendance of indie artists music enthusiasts from all across the country.
