The Majuli Music Festival will be happening this year on the 17th and 18th of December in the Jengraimukh region of Majuli in Assam. This event will be organized by the Majuli Music Festival Foundation.
Majuli Music Festival is happening for the 2nd time this year after the first version in 2019. Tickets for the event will be available on the organizer’s website as well as on the venue.
Apart from enjoying the beautiful music by local as well as national artists and bands, visitors can camp near the venue itself. Bicycle trips around the island and fishing are few other activities to look up-to during the stay.
This event is an excellent time to explore Majluli, the largest river island in the world. It is the home to the Satra culture of Assam established by Srimanta Sankardeva. One can visit the numerous Satras or monasteries of this tradition around the island. One can also explore the culinary culture of the Mishing community residing in the island. Also do not miss out on the locally brewed traditional sai-mod or paro-apong rice liquor during your visit.
This event also aims to spread awareness about the problems of this beautiful location like soil erosion and and lack of bridge. Without a bridge between Jorhat and Majuli, ferry is the unsafe yet only option for the people to travel as of now.
The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland is also on for this year. So the winters are a good time to visit the Northeastern part of the country.
