The Northeast Indian state of Manipur celebrated the Shirui Lily Festival from the 25th to the 28th of May 2022. This year is the 4th version of the event. Celebrated in the Ukhrul District the Tourism Department of the state, it aims to create awareness about the Shirui Lily flower.
Named after the beautiful flower with the same name, the Shirui Lily Festival aims to promote tourism. It also aims to preserve and promote the vibrant traditions and culture. This is the best time to experience the beautiful dance and music as well as the local games and sports.
The event is the home to multiple competitions including fashion, cooking and traditional sports. The ethnic cooking contest is a very popular part of this event. A pork eating competition was also part of the event. Music is also an essential part of this celebration, both traditional and bands performed on stage. Along with the cultures and traditions of the state, it also aims to promote the beautiful state flower which flowers during the season.
The Government of Manipur has also sanctioned an amount of Rs 46 Crores for the development of the Shirui Heritage site. This year also saw a huge turn up of guests from different parts of he country.
