The Department of Tourism of Meghalaya has decided to host Me.gong Festival to introduce Garo Hills to the incoming tourists. This event will showcase the lifestyle of the people of the region while making place for enjoyment and involvement.
The venue of the Me.gong Festival of Meghalaya will be the Babadamgre Village Playground located in the West Garo Hills district. This event will showcase the traditions and culture through different games games, shows and performances. Eating and brewing competitions, band performances and light and sound shows are also part of the schedule. It starts on the 18th of November and continues till the 20th.
Meghalaya Tourism will arrange for the accommodation of tourists to this festival in a campsite. Tents will be available on twin sharing basis at a cost of Rs. 2000 per day. This includes mattresses and sleeping bags for two people. The organizers have arranged for a total of seventy tents, which will be alloted on first come first serve basis to the tourists.
After the completion of the Me.gong Festival in Garo Hills, Meghalaya Tourism will host the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2021. It will be hosted in the capital city from the 25th of November.
