Modern English School showcases Street Play

A variety of events are being organised across the country to mark the 76th Independence Day of the country. Keeping up with the spirit of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Modern English School organized a street play named Xopunor Batere near the MLA hostel in Guwahati, Assam.

The act was written by Pratul Sharma and directed by Mrs. Pranami Bora, the drama teacher of the school. It was enacted by the students of the Modern English academy. The play was focused on the importance of diversity among different ethnic groups of the country. And how this is essential for the realization of the dreams of the country towards the development of a diverse and vibrant society.

The script of the street play was centered around a young boy who wanted to bring in positive change in the society. And he is an adherent believer that the necessary change and upliftment can only be done through awareness and education. Also violence and aggression can hardly bring sustained and continuous development. The play also highlighted the need of awareness about the lives, ideologies and contributions of the freedom fighters. Education about the revolutionaries like Kankalata Barua, Mukunda Kakati, Tekendrajit Singh, Kamala Miri is also essential. This will also help in the avoiding possible conflicts between the past and modern generations.
