Naamghar Samaroh, an attempt to preserve and showcase the Satriya traditions of the state of Assam started earlier today.
The three day event on the Northern Bank of the Brahmaputra river has received over 2000 Naamgharis from across the state. This event is being organised by the Guwahati chapter of the Sri Sri Auniati Satra. The main Auniati Satra located in Majuli and it is one of the most famous and the biggest of the Satras across the state.
Most of the participants of the event reached the venue yesterday and events had started since the morning. The Satradhikar or Head of Sri Sri Auniati Satra, Pitambar Dev Goswami flagged off the celebration by hosting the traditional flag.
According to the organizers, this event is an attempt to present Naam from Assam to the entire world. It also aims to attract and educate the younger generations of the state about this cultural heritage. Which will help in its preservation and propagation. Participants have expressed their happiness about the excellent organisation and co-ordination of the organizers.
A wide range of events will take place during this three day celebration of Naamghar Samaroh. It has already started attracting visitors and that included an aged NRI couple from the state. The number of visitors is expected to increase during the weekend.
