The 6th edition of the North East Fashion Week will take place from the 19th to the 21st of November. Yana Ngoba Chapku, the CEO of the event made this announcement. He also mentioned a few key details about the 6th North East Fashion Week – The Artisans Movement. And the event will take place in the Koro Happa River Island located in Jollang of Arunachal Pradesh.
The North East India Fashion Week- The Artisans Movement is the flagship event of Yana Ngoba. It aims to systematically conduct a pilot study for the betterment of artisans of Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast India as a whole. It aims at improving the prospects of inclusion, empowerment and overall quality of life of the artisans. The event aims to celebrate and showcase the talent of the artisans of the region. The organizers announced that nearly 30 designers and weavers will be a part of this event.
One Arunachal, a Non-Government Organisation will be organizing this event. It also works towards generating awareness and preservation of the traditions and culture of Arunachal Pradesh.
One Arunachal chairman Joram Tat said, “Through North East India Fashion Week- The Artisans Movement, we strive to identify artisan role models, boost self-esteem within the artisan community, advocate for their skills, and offer a platform to showcase their unique talents. Also, with the valuable support of our NGO, we are committed to training and promoting the weavers and designers from the region through ongoing skill development and capacity building. This endeavor also aims to enhance employability, secure better livelihoods, dignify labor, and establish a brand presence with global market connections.”
The event aims to promote inclusivity by offering equal opportunities to Divyanjans and regular artisans. It aims to foster industry exposure and awareness of entrepreneurs with representation from diverse fields. The event includes workshops and conferences on inclusive skilling. It also includes a ramp show featuring models, craftsmen and artists from the region. And the event promises to be a celebration of the unique culture and beautiful traditions of the Northeast.
