The Eastern and North-Eastern Cooperative Dairy Conclave 2022 was held in Gangtok from the 2nd of October. And Purabi Dairy bagged the award for 2nd best performing dairy cooperative in institutional sales.
The conclave was organized by National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India Ltd (NCDFI) in association with Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd and supported of the Sikkim government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event. And Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman of NCDFI mentioned the actions of the Sikkim Government to support the cooperative dairy sector in the state.
Sikkim Milk Union won the 1st position, West Assam Milk Producers’ Co-operative Union Ltd. won the 2nd position while Mother Dairy, Kolkata won the 3rd position. Sudha (Bihar), Medha (Jharkhand), Omfed (Odisha), Bhagiradhi (West Bengal) and Dimul (Nagaland) were given active participation awards on the occasion.
The award for Purabi Dairy, was received from Amit Shah by Meenesh Shah as Chairman WAMUL and SB Bose, Managing Director WAMUL.
Apart from several dignitaries from the dairy industry and Sikkim government, many dairy farmers and representatives of the cooperative Milk Unions and State Dairy Federations from the East and Northeast regions also participated in the event.
In his speech, the home minister mention how milk production is the only way for inclusive development, women empowerment and economic development. He pointed out the huge market for milk and dairy products and how it can help the economy grow.
