The Northeastern Regional office of the Ministry of Tourism has launched a series of cleanliness drives. Named Swachhta Pakhwada, these aims to promote cleanliness in tourism destinations and elsewhere.

The project was launched on the 14th of this month from the Guwahati office of India Tourism. Officials of both India Tourism and Assam Tourism Development Corporation participated in this event. And these drives will continue till the 28th of September, that is one day after the World Tourism Day.

Students of the Institute of Advance Management took part in this project. They looked to the cleaning of their campus and the Borbari region on the 17th of September. The members of the Yuva Tourism Club also took the Swachhta Pledge and participated in a quiz contest.

Students of the Food Craft Institute, Samaguri also took the challange. Their cleanliness drive covered the Food Craft Institute campus, ASTC area and market place. More than seventy students of the Yuva Tourism Club participated in this event on the 20th of September.

Department of Tourism of the Pragjyotish College, Guwahati also participated in the Swachhta Pakhwada. More than 100 students of the club along with the faculties of the department participated on the drive conducted on the 22nd of September. Apart from cleaning the college and the nearby area, an open quiz was also organised.
