Guwahati: The Assam Football Association (AFA) is all set to host a key football qualifier match in Guwahati. Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium of Guwahati will see the match between India and Afghanistan. This is a pivotal FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup 2027 Joint Qualifiers Round 2 match. The India vs Afghanistan match will kick off at 7 PM on March 26.
Assam Football Association Secretary Sangrang Brahma mentioned this to be a historic occasion. And called on the local crowd to come out in large numbers. He urged the local crowd to come in the colour of the national team and as a show of their unwavering support. Brahma also spoke about the significance of this match in terms of India qualifying for the championships.
Assam Football Association addressed a press conference regarding the upcoming match on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, the secretary also called for massive support for the Blue Tigers in Guwahati.
AFA officials also announced that tickets for the match are available on BookMyShow. This will ensure that enthusiasts from all across the region can enjoy the important match. And extend their support to the national team, fondly called Blue Tigers. The ticket prices for the match range from Rs 250 on the lower end to Rs 4000. They also informed that more than 20000 tickets are up for sale for the qualifier match. And requested the enthusiasts to secure their tickets as soon as possible.
They will also live-streamed the qualifier match over JioCinema.
Both teams are scheduled to reach the city on March 23. And they will have two days to practice and get accustomed to the environment ahead of the match. Also the teams will practice in the Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground in Paltan Bazar and the Sarusojai Sports Complex practice ground.
The police and district administration will take the necessary steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the match.
