ISL 2024 – 25 to Kick Off on September 13 

Mumbai: The 2024-25 season of the Indian Super League (ISL) will begin on Friday, September 13, 2024. The winners of the previous two editions, Mohun Bagan Super Giants and Mumbai City FC will clash against each other in the opening match of ISL 2024-25 in Kolkata.

The opening weekend will also see Chennaiyin FC facing Odisha FC, and Bengaluru FC taking on East Bengal FC in the first doubleheader of the season on Saturday, September 14. These matches kick off at 5:00 PM IST and 7:30 PM IST respectively. Kerala Blasters FC will host Punjab FC on Sunday, September 15 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. Hyderabad FC is expected to play their first game, an away fixture at Bengaluru FC on September 19.

This season of the Indian Super League will have 13 teams. The Mohammedan Sporting Club has earned a promotion to the ISL after finishing at the summit of the I-League. The newest entrants will kickstart their campaign against NorthEast United FC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan – their home turf in Kolkata, on Monday, September 16.

With Mohammedan Sporting Club in, ISL 2024-25 will see the three most storied football clubs from Kolkata including Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal FC, competing for fame. The presence of the Kolkata giants adds to the excitement of the football fans and elevates the competition with fans now treated to six high-intensity Kolkata derbies throughout the season. The schedule for the first 2 Kolkata derbies is as follows. Mohun Bagan Super Giant face Mohammedan FC on October 5 and East Bengal FC faces Mohun Bagan Super Giant on October 19.

Opening Fixtures for NEUFC in ISL 2024-25

Northeast United FC will face Mohammedan Sporting Club in their first match of ISL 2024-25 on September 16. On September 23 they will face Mohan Bagan Super Giant. Both these matches are away matches for NEUFC. The first home match for NEUFC will be against Kerala Blasters on September 29. While the next home match will be against Chennaiyin FC on October 17, NEUFC will play another away match against FC Goa on October 4.
