Guwahati: The Khelo India University Games 2023 is just a few days away. And the preparations for the sporting event are in full swing. The stadiums and grounds are being prepared ahead of the events. The schedule has also been released for the games. Guwahati in Assam will host a total of 16 sports. These sports competitions will take place across 12 stadiums or arenas in the city. These events will be played for a total duration of 13 days.
Khelo India University Games 2023: Competitions in Assam
Although the official opening of the tournament is on February 19, some games will begin before that. Kabadi matches will start on February 17 at the Open Ground in Sarusajai Sports Complex and end on February 21. Basketball at the Indoor Stadium and Mallakhamb at Kho Kho Ground in Sarusajai as well as Football (Women) at the Nehru Stadium will begin on February 18.
Rugby and Athletics will be organised at the IGAS, Sarusajai from February 21 and 25 respectively. The Dr Zakir Hussain Aquatics Complex in Sarusajai will host the swimming event from February 19 to 22. The AC Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai will host the Volleyball matches from February 25 to 28.
The National Centre of Excellence Amingaon will host Badminton from February 24 to 28. Fencing matches will take place in the Open Ground of Sarusajai from February 25 to 28. Chachal Sports Complex will host the Tennis matches from February 20- 26. Judo matches will take place at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium. Table Tennis will be from February 19 to 22 while Women’s Boxing will be from February 26 to 29. Table Tennis and Women’s Boxing will be at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium. The Shooting Range in Kahilipara will host the Shooting events from February 20 to 29.
Khelo India University Games 2023: Competitions in other NE States
Apart from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will also host a few disciplines. Rajiv Gandhi University Itanagar will host the Weightlifting from February 19 to 23. NEHU, Shillong will host the Archery from February 20 to 24. Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Aizawl will host the Men’s Football from February 18 to 27. Men’s Boxing will take place in Indoor Hall, Gangtok from February 25 to 29. Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Kohima will host the Wrestling from February 22 to 25. And the Indoor Stadium of NSRCC Agartala will host the Yogasana competitions from February 18 to 20.
