Kokrajhar to host seven matches of Durand Cup 2024

Kokrajhar: Following the grand support received during the past season of the Durand Cup, the organisers have selected Kokrajhar as one of the venues for the Durand Cup 2024. Apart from Kokrajhar, Shillong is the only other venue in Northeast India for the tournament.  It has been announced that Kokrajhar will host a total of seven matches in the tournament. Along with six league-level matches, Kokrajhar will also host a quarter-final match of the tournament. 

The Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Promod Boro took to social media to make this announcement. He also released the match dates alongside the announcement. He mentioned, “The 133rd edition of the Durand Cup is coming back to BTR. Starting from 30th July 2024, football fans of BTR will witness the most thrilling football action, as teams from across India vie for the most coveted football trophy in Asia. So check the fixtures, mark your calendars, and make sure you’re there to cheer for your favourite teams.”

Match schedule

The Sports Authority of India Stadium in Kokrajhar of Assam will host these matches. The opening match in Kokrajhar will be on July 30. Bodoland FC will face Northeast United FC in this match. On August 3 Odisha FC will face Border Security Forces FT. Odisha FC will face Bodoland FC in the next match on August 6. Northeast United FC will face Border Security Forces FT on August 9. And Bodoland FC will play against Border Security Forces FT on August 12. Northeast FC will face Odisha FC in the final league match in Kokrajhar on 16 August. The first match is at 3 PM while the second and third matches begin at 4 PM. And the next three matches begin at 7 PM local time. 

Kokrajhar will also host a quarterfinal match of the Durand Cup 2024 on August 21 at 4 PM.
