Northeast United Football Club managed to secure their first win the ongoing season of the Indian Super League today, December 24. The home team managed to beat ATK Mohun Bagan in the match held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.
Both the teams missed several opportunities to score, but missed almost all of them. Wilmer Jordan scored the only goal of the match in the second half of the game.
This is the first win for Northeast United FC among the eleven matches they have played yet. Six of them have been home matches and five away matches. But they still are at the bottom of the table and eight more matches to go. This is the second time that the teams of Northeast United FC and ATK Mohun Bagan met on the field, but at the end, the results are completely opposite.
The new coach of Northeast United FC, Vinchenzo Annese was also happy with his first win as coach of the team. His new strategies for the team was criticized after the 3:7 defeat with Chennaiyin FC. Vinchenzo Annese had recently taken over the position of the coach. This is the third match that the team is playing his coaching.
