Northeast United FC played and lost their second match against Army Green in the ongoing Durand Cup. This match was the third one played in the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium among the teams in the Group D.
It was the second match of the series and the management is yet to put up the main team. The opening match of the team saw nearly full stadium with nearly 23000 in attendance. Today’s match saw just a just 3900 audience in an almost empty stadium. Dipu managed to post a goal for Northeast United FC towards the end of the match. Hence making it a better than the previous 6 : 0 defeat against Odisha FC.
According to reports, the main team, atleast partially will be playing from their third match of the tournament. It is scheduled on the evening of the 27th August in the home ground against the Kerala Blasters FC. And the fans of the club are expecting to see a good performance by the team and a convincing win in the same. Members of the Highlander Brigade expressed their anguish on the continuous failure of the team.
Tiddim Road Athletic Union FC will face Hyderabad FC in their second match tomorrow. They had lost their first match to Neroca FC. This will be third match in the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal.
