PGTI’s J&K Open 2022 to be held in Jammu Tawi Golf Course

The Professional Golf Tour of India and J&K Tourism today announced the J&K Open 2022. It will be held at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course in Jammu from September 7th to 10th, 2022. And it will carry the total prize amout of Rs. 40 lakh.

The state government created Jammu Tawi Golf Course to boost Golf Tourism in the state. It also aims to groom young boys and girls towards becoming golf professionals. It is an 18-hole course which was designed by renowned designer Col. K.D Bagga and commissioned on 24th April 2011. This golf course is located in a valley of Tawi river along the National Highway 1A connecting Jammu to Srinagar. It has fairways about 6600 meters in length also two big and three small water bodies and a water channel about 3200 meters long.

J&K Open 2022 is part of the government’s aim towards promotion of tourism in the state. The state is already among the top tourist destinations of the country. Its mountains, valleys and rivers attract tourists throughout the year. With this tournament, the state wants to open up avenues of Golf Tourism in the state. Some of the other courses in the state include Royal Springs Golf Course (Srinagar), Pahalgam Golf Course (Lidder Valley) and Gulmarg Golf Club.

Multiple professional golfers from across the country will participate in this tournament. Foreign participants from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will also take part. This will also include a local challenge for the golfers of the region.
