Shillong: The 133rd edition of the prestigious Durand Cup is scheduled to begin later this month. The organisers have decided to add two new venues for this edition of the tournament, namely Shillong in Meghalaya and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. Existing venues Kolkata and Kokrajhar will host the remaining matches of the 133rd Durand Cup 2024. But Guwahati, which hosted Durand Cup matches for the past two editions will not be hosting any matches this year.
Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya will be hosting the league matches for the Group F of the 133rd Durand Cup 2024. This group consists of ISL teams Hyderabad FC and FC Goa along with local teams Shillong Lajong FC and Nepalese Tribhuvan Army Football Club. A total of 6 matches of the tournament have been scheduled for Shillong. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the city will host these matches.
The first match of the 133rd Durand Cup 2024 in Shillong is on August 2 between the home team Shillong Lajong FC and the foreign team Tribhuvan Army Football Club. ISL teams from Hyderabad and Goa clash against each other in the next match on August 5. On August 8, FC Goa will face Tribhuvan Army Football Club. And on August 10, Shillong Lajong FC faces Hyderabad FC. Hyderabad FC faces Tribhuvan Army Football Club on August 13. While the final match of this group is on August 17 between Shillong Lajong and FC Goa. The first match in Shillong kicks off at 4 PM while the remaining marches begin at 7 PM.
Kolkata will host the matches of Group A, B and C. Jamshedpur will host the matches between the teams in Group D while Kokrajhar will host the matches of Group E. A total of 24 teams are participating in the 133rd edition of this tournament. The organisers have divided the participating teams into 6 groups of four teams each.
