The Don Bosco Alumni Association and Guwahati Sports Association under the auspices of the Assam Table Tennis Association have organized the 13th All Assam Major Ranking Table Tennis Championship 2023. This tournament is being hosted at the Mama Margaret Hall of Don Bosco School, Guwahati. President of Assam Table Tennis Tournament and cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika formally inaugurated the event. Several eminent sportspersons, officials and members of the school were present for the inaugural event.
The inauguration event started at 10 AM in the school premises. It commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Pijush Hazarika hoisted the Assam Table Tennis Association Flag. The state anthem was presented thereafter. The dignitaries then hoisted the flags of the Guwahati Sports Authority, Don Bosco School and the Don Bosco Alumni. The members of the Alumni association also felicitated the dignitaries attending the event.
A total number of 402 players from across the state of Assam are participating in this table tennis championship. This number includes the 25 ranked players from 14 districts of the state. The tournament began on July 4 and ends on July 7, 2023.
Gitartha Das, Assam Table Tennis Association Joint Secretary and Guwahati Sports Association Table Tennis Secretary, Pranab Jyoti Lahkar, Vice Chairman Assam State Transport Corporation and Executive Members Assam Table Tennis Association also attended the inaugural event. The Principal of Don Bosco School, Reverend Father Sebastian Mathew attended the event. He also delivered the welcome address and the vote of thanks for the inaugural event of the championship.
