Guwahati: The Guwahati Half Marathon 2024 saw the participation of over 4000 enthusiastic runners. This event is organised annually by Techniche, the annual Techno-Management fest of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The organisers flagged off the event from Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium at Sarusajai.
This edition of the Guwahati Half Marathon 2024 also received participants from across the region. And the theme for this year was ‘Run For a Cleaner Tomorrow’. The event consisted of two separate categories. The shorter 6-km long run is called the Spirit Run. While the longer 21-km long run is called the Glory Run. Overall more than 4000 participants took part in the event.
The Spirit Run event began at 5:15 AM on Sunday. While the longer Glory Run was flagged off an hour later. The event started from the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi AC Indoor Stadium. It is located within the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati. A large section of the participants were able to complete the run in their desired categories. The event was followed by the distribution of the awards to the winners of the event.
Nitesh Kumar came first in the Spirt Run Male category. Sandeep Yadav came second followed by Dinesh Kumar on third. Gloryfy Kurbah won the Sprit Run Female category. While Sangita Bordoloi came second, Padmini Das finished third. Chandan Yadav won the Glory Run Male category. Pawan Singh and Bijay Deka came second and third respectively. In the Glory Run Female Category, Shyamali Singh was named the winner. Rinky Kumar Chauhan came second while Anita Das was third.
Samyak Sharma, Convener of the Guwahati Half Marathon 2024 expressed his gratitude over the successful completion of the event. He also thanked everyone for their participation and support, adding that people from all walks of life participated in the event. He also mentioned that the event is a platform for promoting physical well-being. This year it also advocates environmental stewardship.
