N.Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur said that airlifting the pineapples even during the pandemic shall give a major boost to the farmers of the state. This will help get a proper value of the crop and prevent losses.
“With the government’s support, the marketing firms have been able to scale up exports & the farmers have benefited to the tune of several Crores of Rupees”, remarked the Chief Minister.
The export target has been set at at-least 250 metric ton (MT) of the fruit to Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Bangalore. Krooshi Karma Naturals Private Limited collaborated with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) for this mission.
This initiative to sell the local produce to buyers outside is expected to benefit nearly 900 farmers in the state. The organic farmers had reportedly earned over Rs 78 lakhs in the previous year.
