Located on the Indo – Burma Biodiversity Hotspot, the Manas National Park is one of the richest regions in the world in terms of biodiversity in the country. The park gets its name from the Manas River, a major tributary of the Brahmaputra river.
This gush green region now have several protection statuses for several key species. Some of these recognition includes it being a Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger, Elephant Reserve and Biosphere Reserve. It was made a safe sanctuary on the 1st of October 1928 and it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
It is very rich in terms of plants and animals. Manas National Park has large number of animals including wild tigers, elephants, multiple deer and leopard species, primates and hogs. Multiple varieties of large cats live in this protected area. It is also rich in avian and aquatic life including peacock, the national bird of the country.

Both Elephant and Gypsy Safari options are available in the Manas National Park. And for the adrenaline junkies, white water rafting is also conducted in the river that passes through the park.
Manas National Park is comes under the administration of Bodoland Tourism. It remains closed during the monsoon season like all other protected areas. Also tourists can try out the locally available ethnic cuisines available in the nearby area.
