Along with the rest of the state, the Kamrup Metropolitan district is also getting ready for the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. Assam government aims to plant a total of 1 crore saplings of commercially viable plants under this initiative. The authorities have set up several sapling distribution points across the district. And these saplings will be planted on the coming Sunday, that is September 17.
The authorities have set up a total of 32 sapling distribution points across the district. The people who have registered on the portal or the app can collect the saplings from these locations. And these saplings will be given free of cost to the public.
Dhruba Jyoti Hazarika, the additional district commissioner announced the list of distribution points for this purpose. These include the Revenue Circle Offices at Dispur, Sonapur, Guwahati and Azara. Under the Chandrapur Revenue Circle, the authorities will carry out the distribution at the Chandrapur High School. Jyoti Chirtabon will also have a stock of saplings, from where people can collect their saplings. DFO Guwahati East also mentioned that saplings can be collected from forest offices as well. Chandrapur Beat Office, Khonamukh Beat Office, Assam Forest School in Jalukbari, Social Forestry Nursery in Sonapur and East Kamrup Division will also have saplings for distribution.
Distribution will also be done at the Gaon Panchayat offices of several villages. Under the Rani Development Block, distribution will be done at Azara, Dharapur, Goral, Kahikuchi and Mazirgaon. Sonapur, Nartap, Borkhat, Topatoli, Khetri, Dhupguri, Digaro, Hahara, Tetelia, Maloibari, Baruahbari and Kamarkuchi in Dimoria Development Block. And Chandrapur, Panikhaiti, West Mayong and Amsing om the Chandrapur Development Block.
It is also important to note that the authorities distributed around 3.25 lakh saplings on September 10. The event for the same was hosted in the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara.
