Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday inaugurated the Aircargo facility at Dimapur airport. This is the first ever aircargo facility in the state.
On the occasion Rio tweeted, “Inaugurated #Aircargo facility at #DimapurAirport. I congratulate @horticulturengl, @AAI_Official for the initiative. I’m grateful to MIDH, DAC&FW for sponsorship and @airindiain@IndiGo6E for partnership. I hope this service will help enhance the income of our farmers”
The facility is aimed to boost export of perishable goods and ensure timely delivery of local produce to other parts of the country. The operation was approved in February as announced by the Airport Authority of India Dimapur Airport Director M Zhimo.
The cargo terminal was already constructed but was un-operational due to the pandemic as it didn’t have the facilities like X-ray machine, scanner and other facilities to conduct Common User Domestic Cargo Terminal (CUDCT). The bureau of Civil Aviation Security granted the permission to start the operation which Zhimo said was a special consideration given to the state.
This step will help boost the logistical sector not only for the town of Dimapur, but also entire Nagaland. Fostering trade, commerce and boosting local products of all types will be encouraged by this step.
