A new fish species has been discovered in Arunachal Pradesh by Dr. Keshav Kumar Jha. Jha is the Associate Professor & Head, Department of Zoology, Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat. He discovered this new species from genus Schizothorax in Arunachal .
This fish was collected from the junction of River Siku and Sirum near Gakang area under Mebo circle of East Siang District. The fish inhabits the water logged area of torrential river drainage.
Deriving from the names of the rivers where it was found the species has been named as Schizothorax sikusirumensis .
