The Deputy Commissioner of the Papum Pare district (Rural) of Arunachal Pradesh has ordered to close all schools in the district to prevent any untoward incident during the rains.
Parts of Arunachal Pradesh has been receiving heavy to medium rainfall in the last few days. This has lead to severe landslides and road blocks in multiple locations. All these has caused traffic congestion which can lead to shortage of necessary resource. Also there has been multiple regions of flooding and loss of life and property. And there has also been threats of the same in many more areas.
These heavy rains have caused flooding and traffic issues in the the Papum Pare district (Rural) as well. To that end and to ensure the safety of the children of the region, the Deputy Commissioner has ordered the closure of primary schools, middle schools and high schools. This order will remain in force till the next order is issued by the authorities.
Arunachal Pradesh is not the only place to get heavy rains this year. More than the average rainfall has been recorded in neighboring Assam and Meghalaya as well. And this has already caused two rounds of floods in Assam this year. The districts of Cachar and Dima Hasao are still reeling under the effects of the floods.
