The Red Horns Division of the Indian Army has announced the 2nd edition of the Rising Sun Water Fest. Named Revisiting Saraighat, this edition will be hosted at the Deepor Beel wetland in Guwahati. The 2nd Rising Sun Water Fest – Revisiting Saraighat starts on November 17.
The curtain raiser for this event was organized in the Narangi Military Station in Guwahati on Tuesday. The Red Horns Division made this announcement on behalf of the state government and Eastern Command of the Indian Army. The event will feature both sailing and rowing competitions. Renowned clubs and eminent sports persons will be participating in the extravaganza.
They also announced that the Special Forces as well as the Indian Air Force will stage thrilling demonstrations during the event. And this will be a major highlight of the upcoming event. The trophies of the upcoming competitions were also revealed during the curtain raiser. These trophies will be given out to the winners of the sailing as well as rowing competition. And represent the achievement in the field of water sports.
This edition of the water sport festival will be a tribute to the Battle of Saraighat. This pivotal historic moment took place in 1671. And the valiant Ahom Forces led by Lachit Borphukan defeated the Mughal army in the Brahmaputra River.
The organizers announced that some of the most talented athletes of the field will be water sports. This will provide excellent opportunities for the young individuals who are interested in the sports. While providing a thrilling experience for all the spectators.
The first edition of the Rising Sun Water Fest was organized in the Umiam Lake of Meghalaya last year. It was a massive success in terms of participation and for the spectators.
