Three foreign experts sustained burn injuries on Wednesday while working on dousing a blowout of Oil India Limited (OIL)’s gas well at Baghjan in Tinsukia district of Assam.
The 3 experts identified as Anthony Steven Reynolds, Doug Dallas and Craig Neil Duncan were provided immediate medical attention by doctors at well site.
Later they were taken to burn unit section of Astha Nursing Home at Dibrugarh. They have been released after dressing of the burn injuries. The operations at the site is expected to resume from Thursday.
According to OIL, the team could successfully complete more than 70% of retrieval job of 7 1/16” tubing spool on Tuesday. The remaining work had commenced since Wednesday morning. The 3 experts from Alert suffered minor burn injuries during removal of the spool.
This information comes to the picture more than a month after Oil India Limited decided to take action to look into damage control in the region. And it has been almost two months since the oil spill started in Maguri Beel. The oil well in Baghjan later caught fire, which claimed the life of at-least two employees of Oil India Limited.
