‘Akhila Paat’ literally translates to ‘a Sheet of Paper’ in the Assamese language. And it is the very same paper that A Khila Paat deals in, with a few specialties of course !!
Handmade paper from various sources as well as recycled paper are some of the specialties of A Khila Paat. Dr. Indira Borthakur, the chairman of the LB Group, the parent organisation of this initiative, had set up the first recycled paper plant of Assam.
Not Just making paper, they also create beautiful personalized designer products from this paper. Examples include visiting cards, invitations, notepads, diaries, etc.
Gifting materials like gift boxes, wrappers, paper trays, coasters, envelopes, etc. are also created as per the need of any individual or organisation.
The core idea is to promote the local artisans and culture in front of the world using eco-friendly products. Apart from paper, A Khila Paat also deals in a variety of locally produced handicrafts like Assam Silk.
Another important idea behind creation of this organisation is to create livelihood for the economically marginalized sections of artisans staying in the rural setting of Northeastern India. The resources necessary for most of the products are generally cheap and easily available. Thus helping them to grow beyond those restraints.
