Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday flagged-off a consignment of pumpkins to Dubai from air cargo terminal of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati.
The pumpkins have been produced by the farmers of the state. Sonowal informed that the home grown produce will be reaching the markets of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London, Hong Kong and Singapore.
“It is heartening to see our farmers giving a new lease of life to the agri sector & economy. The #COVID19 challenge has given us huge opportunities to explore our strengths. The efforts of Assam’s farmers & Govt agencies are opening up new avenues for us in the post-covid world”, said Sonowal in a tweet.
Sonowal aims at reaching the world market by the agricultural products of the farmers of the state. The cargo flight service can help facilitate the objective.
Assam government is also taking steps to export agricultural products of the state by steamers from Pandu port in the city to the Bay of Bengal via Brahmaputra.
