Government of Assam has dropped the earlier system of Institutional / Hotel Quarantine for incoming Air-Passengers. The decision was taken in pursuance of the development of Rapid Point of Care Antigen Detection Tests for Covid-19 which results within an hour.
If the antigen result turns out to be positive, the passenger will proceed to Covid Care Hospital, Center or otherwise. If it’s negative, swab sample of the passenger will be sent for RT PCR testing. However 14 days home quarantine is a must.
However, if any air passenger prefers not to undergo home quarantine for reasons such as inconvenience to the other persons staying in his/her home since the entire home will be converted to a containment zone, the district administration will facilitate his/her quarantine in a hotel, subject to the condition that the individual will himself/herself finalize the rates of accommodation and food and bear the expenditure.
In case air passenger who arrive of at late hours, the district administration will make arrangements for hotel quarantine and bear the expenditure the thereof for initial period of 36 hours and therefore the person will have the option to proceed for home quarantine or continue to remain in hotel quarantine at his/her expense for remaining period for 14 days.
