Assam Health department has reduced the quarantine period for passengers arriving from outside the state from 14 days to 10 days. The 10 day period shall include days spent in institutional/ hotel quarantine as well as home quarantine.
The order was issued in a statement released by the Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department of Assam.
“For instance, if a passenger spends initial 2 days in a hotel / institutional quarantine, then he/she shall have to spend the remaining duration of 8 days in home quarantine. Similarly, if any passenger directly proceeds for home quarantine, the he/she shall spend 10 days in home quarantine.
However, ” if the RT-PCR test result of such passengers turns out positive in the interim, steps will be taken as per standard procedure,” the statement read.
As per the new protocol, the discharged patients of Covid-19 shall have to undergo mandatory 7-day home quarantine period with active surveillance by the health workers.
This step comes in alignment of the Unlock 3 reopening procedures as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. As of 28th July, Assam stands at 8238 active cases of Covid-19.
