The Health Minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta called a press conference earlier today wherein he announced a further relaxations. The curfew hours will now be from 4 PM to 5 AM in the capital city.
A few key points from the announcement of the health minister are as follows.
- The districts of Morigaon, Biswanath and Goalpara, and Bokakhat town of Golaghat district shall be under full containment.
- Only essential services will be permitted to work in these districts.
- Businesses in Guwahati can now operate till 3 PM everyday instead of the previous 1 PM. And everything has to close by 4 PM.
- There was no mention about cancellation of the even – odd car numbers policy, hence it will still be followed.
- Inter district travel remains suspended till further information is given.
- These orders will come to effect from the 28th of June, Monday and will be effective for a week.
- Passengers and travelers with vaccination certificate for both the doses will no longer need to undergo testing at airports and railway stations of the state.
- New lots of vaccines will arrive in the state next week to reach more and more people across the state.
Although the positive rate very low, the state government is maintaining a strict vigil on the COVID situation.
