Assam State Zoo located in Guwahati is set to reopen for visitors from December 1 2020. The zoo has remained closed for visitors since March due to the ongoing pandemic.
As per reports the visitors will be allowed entry in two slots from 8 AM to 11 AM and then from 1 PM to 4 PM. Only 900 visitors will be allowed to enter the Zoo in a day with 150 people every hour. The payment mode for tickets will be online.
Some of the new attractions for the visitors would be a lion and two tiger cubs born during the lockdown. As per reports, the lion cub is the first Asiatic lion cub in the last 15 years to be born in the Assam state zoo. The lion cub was named Simba and the male tiger cub was named Sultan.
Along with the cubs, another new member of the zoo is a male golden langur born amid the lockdown.
The Assam State Zoo and Botanical Garden is one of the most important tourism destinations of the city of Guwahati, which also happens to be the gateway to the Northeastern part of India.
