Assam Tourism organised an event on the banks of the beautiful Deepor Beel on Tuesday, the 16th of February, 2021. This event saw the presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal , Assam Tourism Development Corporation chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah, Member of Parliament from Guwahati Queen Oja, Member of Legislative Assembly from West Guwahati Ramendra Narayan Kalita and ATDC deputy chairman Navadeep Kalita and other dignitaries.
On the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja, 34 beneficiaries were handed allocation letters for home stay accommodations under the Amar Aalohi Scheme under ATDC. This scheme aims to promote affordable and traditional staying options to inbound tourists to the state.
Affordable mobile devices with software installed were also given out to stakeholders in the tourism field. These devices and the embedded software will enable tourists to track local resources at specific locations within the state. The Paryatan Sarthi initiative was announced on the World Tourism Day by the ATDC chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah. Stakeholders had to submit their applications and the devices were handed out after verification.
Apart from maintaining a direct contact between various parties in the field, these devices will also help in promoting and exploring new destinations.
Deepor Beel is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations located within the Guwahati city. A fund of Rs. 10 Crores was announced for the development and beautification of this Ramsar Wetland. This project will be initiated soon under the co-operation between the Forest and Tourism Departments, Government of Assam.
