The second edition of Aparup Assam was released today from an event held in the Directorate of Tourism of Assam. The minister of Tourism, Jayanta Malla Baruah was present for this event with along with senior officials of the Directorate of Tourism and Assam Tourism Development Corporations.
Aparup Assam is a directory of off-beat locations in the state with high tourism potential. The first edition mentioned a list of thirty eight such locations to make them popular among domestic tourists. Keeping up with the festive spirit of completing 75 years of independence, the second edition enlists a total of seventy five destinations across the state. The department has chosen destinations across the districts and mentioned how to reach these locations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Tourism mentioned the need of positive stories from the state. These will encourage more and more domestic and foreign tourists to come to these locations. He also mentioned the benefits of the new Tourism Policy of the state. Emphasis has also placed on actions of tour operators and guides towards promotion of destinations in Assam.
It also has a list of registered tour operators of the state and active tour guides along with their contact numbers to help tourists. The editors have also included a calendar of events and festivals of the Assam. This edition of Aparup Assam holds details about a variety of destinations to suit the needs of all tourists. These includes the rock caves of Jogighopa to the terracotta artists of Asharikandi and from reserve forests to coal museum. Several places of religious interests, waterfalls, picnic spots and water bodies across the state have been included.
